Application Process

Applying to become a "Safer Shopping Approved" retailer is very straight forward indeed. We'll guide you every step of the way and give you all the help you need in order to make sure that your website complies with our code of practice.

The application process works as follows:

In order to start the ball rolling, we just need some basic details from you.
Your name, email address, website address etc.

You'll also pay a one-off membership fee of £75 which covers the cost of running the Safer Shopping scheme, promoting the scheme to consumers and running the dispute resolution service.

If we find that your site doesn't comply with our code of practice, then we'll tell you what changes you need to make. You can then either choose to make those alterations or request a full refund of your membership fee.

We'll visit your website within 48 hours to make sure that it complies with our code of practice.

If it doesn't, we'll get back to you with a list of changes that need to made (eg: we might tell you that you need to add a returns policy to your site).

You can either choose to make these changes, or request that your membership fee is refunded.

Once your application has been accepted...

1) We'll send you some "cut and paste" html code for you to add to your site. This will display the "Safer Shopping Approved" logo on your site.

2) You'll be added to the directory of "Safer Shopping Approved" retailers - this directory is a valuable resource for consumers who feel safer only purchasing from approved retailers.

3) A "certificate" will be added to our site. When a visitor clicks on the "Safer Shopping Approved" logo on your website, they are taken (in a new window) to a copy of your certificate which verifies that the logo is authentic. It also tells visitors when your website was approved.
